Student Involvement

When going to class, studying, and working all day, all you can think about is taking a break. Coming in as a freshman everyone goes through the same experience of feeling lost and trying to figure out where they fit in. There are a lot of extra curricular activities offered and sometimes it can become overwhelming, the first step could be looking at clubs, or anything student led, anything that your major offers outside of your academic life, for example chess club, knitting club, even a quesadilla club .
Clubs not related to your major:
Clubs are a good way to get involved and to meet new people outside of your major or to meet new people that you wouldn’t see in your classes. College is an experience for you to find yourself and to find things that you like and dislike, by joining a club that fulfils that experience. Clubs not related to your major in a way can help not cause more stress because it helps you get your mind off things. This will help you become more professional and help you become more of an adult.
Clubs related to your major:
Getting involved in clubs that are related to your major can help benefit you by providing you with experience. This is your chance to talk to people that you see outside of your classes. These clubs can help you figure out if you want to be doing it all your life, networking with your peers, professors, it can help you find internships and job opportunities. For example, for some business clubs they hold workshops or even plan trips to visit companies.
Student Entertainment:
Student entertainment can be planned out by students themselves. The students run it, they can gain experience in teamwork and organization. With events being planned out it gives you accessible entertainment in the campus community. Some of the events can include movie nights! Going to the movies provides you with a fun activity to do with your friends. Especially if you’re not in a big city this gives you the chance to at least something to do. Student entertainment events can be held throughout the month so there is an event for everyone.
The Recreation Center:
Being able to destress yourself whether it's by lifting weights, or even taking a jog. The recreational centers You can bring your friend to play racquetball, volleyball, basketball, or even rock climbing. There is no limit to what you can do! If you are a beginner and want to work out, you can take classes and even maybe meet new people! This could help you become more disciplined and focused on your goals because a lot of the times people just want to see results.
Conclusion:
Overall, there are many opportunities for college students to find friends, gain professional experience, create new memories. By taking the initiative to explore these options, you are giving yourself the chance to put yourself out there.
